ARLINGTON, Texas — The Detroit Tigers didn't play the Texas Rangers on Sunday, but they did suffer a huge loss.
Outfielder Magglio Ordonez will miss the remainder of the postseason after suffering a re-fracture of his right ankle at the site that was previously surgically repaired.
Ordonez aggravated the injury in Sunday's game and was replaced by Don Kelly.
Ordonez underwent X-rays and a CT Scan on Sunday morning in Arlington, which diagnosed him with the re-fracture.
"We're a real resilient team," Tigers manager Jim Leyland said Sunday. "Do I like this? Obviously, no. Do I like losing Delmon (Young)? Obviously, no? But we're a tough team. We'll figure something out and we'll get through this."
The Tigers were already without Young, who injured his oblique in Game 5 of the AL Division Series. He's not on the Tigers' roster for the ALCS, and with Ordonez down, the Tigers are without two of their top right-handed hitters.
Leyland said the team hasn't decided who will take Ordonez's roster spot.
Ordonez played in only 92 games this season, but he hit .455 in the Division Series against New York.
