ARLINGTON — The Cowboys’ winning drive Monday night almost was stalled by a snap problem that prompted Tony Romo to say, “We've got to get the snap thing worked out.”

The Cowboys were able to convert the game-winning field goal only after they overcame a third-and-21, which was the result of a wild snap by center Phil Costa that Romo had to scramble to recover on first-and-10 with just less than three minutes to play. It was the third time Romo was forced to retrieve a snap that he wasn't expecting.

Apparently, the problem involved Redskins defenders yelling out their own snap count to fool Costa.

"We'll get that worked out,” Romo said. “We'll tell the league and see if that's something that can be fixed because you're not supposed to be able to do that. So we'll see. But we can't have that happen. We shouldn't have been in that situation."

Costa said the fix would be simple: He must block out the voice of his opponent.

"It's just being patient," Costa said. "Just trying not to hear them and trying to hear Tony."
