Dirk Nowitzki hasn't made a decision on playing overseas if the NBA lockout continues, but according to a close friend, the Dallas Mavericks superstar could decide in January.
Holger Geschwindner, Nowitzki's personal coach, told The Dallas Morning News on Tuesday that the 33-year-old plans to wait until January before making a deal with a European club.
"Dirk will wait until January,"
Geschwindner said. "If the complete season will be canceled, he has to join a team to stay in shape."
Many believe that if the NBA doesn't reach a new collective bargaining agreement by January, then the 2011-12 season will be canceled.
After recently playing with the German national team, the leader of the 2011 NBA champions will take a much deserved break from basketball, allowing his body to recharge.
Several NBA stars have been rumored to be joining European clubs if the lockout continues. So far, the biggest name to make the move is Deron Williams. The New Jersey Nets' All-Star point guard, who attended The Colony High School near Dallas, is playing for Turkish club Besiktas.
